The first time I saw Tevis Hodge, Jr. play was at the Cascade Blues Association annual awards event. There were a lot of great players on stage that evening, but I was struck by the amount of sound one man and a guitar were able to produce. And what a sound! Tevis plays that kind of music that transcends time and gets into your bones as something deeply rooted, personal, and alive.

We wanted to feature Tevis in our inaugural issue for just these reasons and we’re thrilled he has such a special place in our magazine’s own history. You can read Tevis Hodge Jr.’s story in Vol. 1: Sand and Sea. And, have a listen right here!
